OIAC to Policy Makers: No more time/concessions to Iran’s Ayatollahs

Statement

Washington, DC, January 20, 2015 – On the eve of President Barak Obama’s
2015 State of the Union Address, Organization of Iranian-Americans again
reminds policy makers of the perils of providing the Iranian regime more
time and more concessions on its nuclear program.

In November 2013, President Obama pledged that, “If Iran does not fully
meet its commitments during this six-month phase, we will turn off the
[sanctions] relief and ratchet up the pressure.”  More than a year later
and despite near zero progress on the talks, Mr. Obama is today asking
congress to, “hold your fire” and delay taking the necessary steps
towards future sanctions.

Iranian Americans laud Congress for its responsible effort to prevent
the Iranian regime from obtaining the nuclear bomb.   Iranian regime is
a predatory regime whose survival depends on creating regional chaos,
brutal persecution of its citizens, and terrorism. As such, the
ayatollahs view nuclear enrichment and the prowess it affords them as a
strategic red line from which they will not retreat willingly.

Therefore, giving Tehran more time through extension/continuation of
useless nuclear talks invites only a catastrophic military conflict and
undermines the democratic aspirations of the Iranian people.
