WASHINGTON, April 19, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — The Arizona House of Representatives issued a Proclamation urging the U.S. Government to “confront the main source of international terrorism sponsored by the Government of Iran and designate Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corp (IRGC) as a Foreign Terrorist Organization.”
The Organization of Iranian American Communities – U.S. (OIAC), particularly its members in Arizona, welcome and applaud the Proclamation issued by the House of Representatives in Arizona.
The Proclamation outlines the bloody history of IRGC and its crimes against the people of Iran, its role behind the “Chain Killings” during the 1990’s and its extensive terror training centers and network across Syria, Yemen, Afghanistan, Iraq, and Lebanon based on “detailed information released by the Iranian opposition, the National Council of Resistance of Iran in February 2017.”
Moreover, OAIC calls out the Proclamation’s reference to the IRGC’s role in “continued engagement in terrorism has had a direct impact on undermining international efforts to promote peace, economic stability in the Persian Gulf, and the growth of democracy…the ongoing slaughter of the people of Syria as it maintains support for, and seeks to preserve, the regime of Bashar al-Assad, which is responsible for hundreds of thousands of deaths and millions of displaced citizens of Syria.”
We fully support the position of Senator John McCain, Chairman of Senate Armed Services Committee who said the Iranian regime, Bashar Al-Assad and ISIS were all interrelated and could not be dealt with separately. He underscored the need to remove Assad from power and to confront the Iranian regime’s destructive role in Syria and Iraq.
Members of OIAC in Arizona and across the nation view the Proclamation by Arizona’s House of Representatives as the stepping stone for the right policy on Iran and the entire region.
OIAC-US is the largest, most active, all volunteers, and enduring grass root organization of Iranian-Americans with local chapters in 40 states. Its members have a range of political and party affiliations but unified in the belief that democracy and human rights in Iran, are imperative to the national security of America and peace in the Middle East and beyond.
