To condemn UN Iran’s Ebrahim Raisi Memorial

by

New York City, May 30, 2024 – Iranian Americans, former Iran political prisoners and concerned citizens rallied outside the United Nations in New York to condemn UN memorial for Iranian regime’s former president Ebrahim Raisi. The event included images and stories of Ebrahim Raisi’s victims, a picket line, and testimonials from family members and witnesses.

Ebrahim Raisi was a member of the notorious Death Commission responsible for the 1988 executions in Iran and played a key role in the murder of thousands of pro-democracy protesters over the past few years. U.N.’s own investigator on human rights in Iran has called for an independent inquiry into allegations of state-ordered executions of thousands of political prisoners in 1988 and the role Ebrahim Raisi played in these mass killings.

Numerous media outlets covered this protest.
