You are cordially invited to attend this briefing, organized by the network of Iranian American communities across the United States, to discuss the most recent developments at Camp Liberty, a petition made to the United Nations to address the situation, the failures of the United Nations to date, and what international law requires to be done. Tahar Boumedra was Chief of the Human Rights Office of the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI) and adviser to the Special Representative of the Secretary-General (SRSG) on Camp Ashraf affairs from 2009 until May 2012. He was the Regional Director of Penal Reform International (PRI) for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), based in Amman, Jordan. He was working with MENA governments to introduce human rights based reform in the penal and prison systems in the region. In November 2008, he was offered the position of Chief of UNAMI Human Rights Office who also represents the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Righters (HCHR) in Iraq.
