June 20, 2026 – Massive Rally in Paris, France
To Protest Unprecedented Wave of Political Executions & to Support a Democratic Republic in Iran
On June 20, 2026, French authorities canceled a major rally in Paris that was expected to draw more than 100,000 supporters of Mrs. Maryam Rajavi and the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI). The cancellation followed a court ruling citing significant security concerns.
The court acknowledged threats from the Iranian regime and its proxy actors and stated that, due to the anticipated participation of supporters of the PMOI/MEK, there was a substantial risk of a terrorist attack by either agents of the Iranian regime or Iranian monarchist groups. The ruling also referenced allegations that individuals associated with these groups had threatened violence if the June 20 gathering proceeded.
The ban came only hours after a phone conversation between French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, raising concerns among many participants about possible pressure from Tehran to restrict the activities of Iran’s democratic opposition.
Thousands of Iranian Americans had traveled to Paris to join the gathering, which aimed to highlight the sharp rise in executions in Iran and express support for Mrs. Rajavi’s 10-Point Plan for a free, democratic, and non-nuclear republic.
Despite the ban, tens of thousands of participants who had already arrived in Paris gathered peacefully near the rally site. Reports indicate that French police restricted media access, arrested several participants, and used force against demonstrators.
At the same time, an international conference in Paris proceeded as planned, bringing together prominent global leaders and lawmakers, including Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, former European Council President and Belgian Prime Minister Charles Michel, former UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson, and former Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba, all expressing support for the Iranian people’s struggle for democracy.
The message from the Iranian-American community remains clear: the path to a free Iran lies not in war or appeasement, but in supporting the Iranian people and their organized resistance in establishing a democratic, secular, and non-nuclear republic.
