Iran: human rights worsen; nefarious regional meddling continues one year past JCPOA
Thousands to Rally Against Hassan Rouhani, to Call for Halt in Executions in Iran and Prosecution of Perpetrators

What: Thousands of Iranian-Americans will hold a major rally outside the United Nations Headquarters in New York on Tuesday, September 20, 2016, to condemn the upcoming visit to the United Nations in New York by the Iranian regime’s President, Hassan Rouhani. They will also call for a halt in the executions in Iran and demand the prosecution of the perpetrators of the killings in Iran.

Why: More than 2,700 have been executed in Iran during Rouhani’s tenure, including dozens of dissidents, women, minors, ethnic and religious minorities.

This year’s rally, sponsored by the Organization of Iranian American Communities – US, www.OIACUS.org, coincides with the anniversary of the 1988 massacre of 30,000 political prisoners in Iran. New evidence implicates regime’s leaders, including current Rouhani cabinet ministers, as key players in the massacre.

Who: Honorable Joe Lieberman, former senator from Connecticut, Pastor Saeed Abedini, recently released from prison in Iran, and Sir Geoffrey Robertson, QC, President of the UN Special Court for Sierra Leone, are among the speakers.

An elaborate exhibition, depicting the appalling state of human rights in Iran, is planned along with a symbolic enactment of the mass execution of thousands of political prisoners in Iran.

When: Tuesday, September 20, 2016, 10:00 AM
Where: Dag Hammarskjold Plaza, United Nations Headquarters, NY
