Washington, DC; November 23, 2018 – Organization of Iranian American Communities (OIAC) celebrates the conclusion of another U.S. election cycle and congratulates House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi on her re-election from California’s 12th congressional district, and supports her bid to become the next speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives.
Our community’s reverence for free and representative elections, irrespective of outcome, is rooted in the belief that they are pivotal to ensuring basic freedoms, equality, and a prosperous future. Accordingly, a continued struggle for these democratic values remains a goal for all of us at OIAC, guiding our efforts to help the Iranian people free themselves from the jaws of Islamic fundamentalism.
We thank Leader Nancy Pelosi for her longstanding support for our community and the Iranian people. Our community, like leader Pelosi, will continue to advocate for, “Respect for human rights, gender equality, religious and ethnic tolerance,” believing that these values are truly the “driving force in effecting further change in Iran.”
We look forward to working in a bipartisan way with all members of the U.S. House of Representatives, the incoming members, and the House leadership in pursuing, “our shared mission to build a democratic, free, and non-nuclear Iran.”
