OIAC-US Welcomes inauguration of Congressional Iran Human Rights and Democracy Caucus

U.S. House of Representatives, Washington, DC:

Bipartisan members of congress today announced formation of Iran Human Rights and Democracy Caucus (IHRDC).  The Caucus is co-chaired by Rep. Dana Rohrabacher, Rep. Steve Cohen, Rep. Loretta Sanchez, Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, Rep. Ted Poe, and Rep. Brian Higgins.  A Congressional Member Organization, IHRDC will provide members of congress with information on developments in Iran in order to mobilize support for legislative initiatives to promote a free Iran.  (Read IHRDC Dear Colleague Letter)

In remarks before a packed reception hall hosted by OIAC-US,  representatives Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, Ted Poe, Sheila Jackson-Lee, and Brad Sherman congratulated the Iranian people on the occasion of Nowrouz (Persian New Year) and highlighted Iranian government’s atrocious rights record.
