The Organization of Iranian American Communities (OIAC) lauds Senator John McCain on his visit with Iranian opposition members in Albania

WASHINGTON, April 18, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — The Organization of Iranian American Communities (OIAC), representing Iranian Americans in 40 states, including Arizona, lauds Senator John McCain (R-AZ), Chairman of the U.S. Senate Armed Services Committee, for his April 14 visit to Tirana, Albania, where he met thousands of members of the Iranian opposition.

During the visit, Senator McCain also met with Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) and discussed the Iranian regime’s threats and its meddling in the region.

On behalf all Iranian communities, OIAC extends its gratitude to Senator McCain for his invaluable endeavors, including the introduction of legislation and holding hearings on the plight of thousands of Iranian opposition members in Camp Liberty, Iraq, and for his insistence that the United States must uphold its commitment to protect them.

Mrs. Rajavi expressed her appreciation to the Senator for his unrelenting efforts in support of relocation of the members of Iranian opposition out of Iraq.

“Today, there is a consensus in the Middle East about the clerical regime’s destructive role and that the religious fascism ruling Iran is the primary source of war, terrorism and crisis in the region,” she said. Praising the perseverance of Camp Liberty residents in the face of attacks and hardships, Senator McCain said, “There is no doubt that people in this room have suffered not only themselves, but in the loss of their loved ones because of the Iranian tyranny. You have stood up, fought, and sacrificed for freedom, for the right to live free, for the right to determine your future, for the right that is God given,” he said, adding, “I thank you for being an example; an example to the whole world that those people who are willing to fight and sacrifice for freedom.”
